American social satire Dinner at Eight by George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber. Presented and performed by Perth Waldorf School’s Class 12, directed by Austin Castiglione and Jane Diamond, Dinner at Eight is a glimpse into the affluent lives of high society New Yorkers living with the challenges of the 1930’s Great Depression era. Millicent Jordan is planning the perfect dinner party for the affluent and influential of New York. As preparations are underway, complications and the unexpected create both an escalation of problems and a revelation of the truth of each character. Beneath the fur stoles and silk ties lurks shady business deals, erosion of personal wealth, indulgent lifestyles and fleeting affairs that speak of the real struggle for the upper classes at that time.
Warning: Adult themes, sexual references, suicide, coarse language and violence. Recommended 13 plus.
