Under the Tree
‘Near-perfect calibration between family drama and black comedy.’- The Hollywood Reporter
Everybody needs good neighbours. But these neighbours are the absolute pits.
When pathetic husband Atli is caught doing something embarrassing by his wife, he slinks off to live with Mum and Dad in their neat suburban terrace. There he finds a tense standoff brewing between his iron-willed mother and the younger couple next door. With its black Scandi comedy pushed to increasingly Viking-like extremes, Under the Tree is an audience and critics’ favourite fresh from the Venice Film Festival.
